Platypus has three lines of FDE work: advisory, hiring and the Academy. All prices are in GBP and exclude VAT.

Advisory

FDE Readiness Assessment

A two-week assessment for a company deciding whether to build an FDE function, or trying to understand why an existing one is not working as expected.

We review the current plan and evidence, speak to the relevant leaders and practitioners, and produce a written Readout covering:

  • what problem the field function needs to solve;
  • the most important gaps or risks;
  • our recommendation; and
  • a practical 90-day plan.

Price: £15,000.

Operating Model + Hiring System Sprint

A fixed three-week engagement for a company ready to design or reset the function. It produces:

  • an operating model covering team shape, ownership, interfaces and measurement;
  • a hiring playbook with role profiles, interview design and calibration; and
  • clear positioning for candidates, customers and the wider company.

Price: £40,000.

Longer-term implementation support is scoped after the initial engagement. It is not sold as a generic retainer before we understand the company.

Hiring

For companies that already know the role they need, we can design the hiring process without a broader operating-model engagement.

Interview process design: from £4,000 per role. This includes the traits, interview structure, calibrated questions and a working session with the hiring team.

Interviewing-as-a-Service: £600 per interview. A calibrated interviewer runs the agreed slot and returns written evidence within 48 hours.

FDE Academy

A custom cohort programme for consulting, systems-integration and technology-services firms developing a forward-deployed capability.

The scope can include programme design, realistic client-deployment scenarios, facilitator materials, live coaching and follow-up once participants apply the work in the field. The final shape depends on the cohort size, number of in-person days and length of the field phase.

Price: from £45,000 per cohort, plus travel.

How we work

  • Fixed scope. Each engagement has a defined outcome, written deliverables and a clear end date.
  • Practical output. We leave behind operating documents, hiring instruments or programme materials—not just workshop notes.
  • Discretion. We do not publish client-specific findings without agreement.
